Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. – Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)
The Upper Room | 20th January 2022 MESSAGE
My wife and I stood on the balcony facing the Atlantic Ocean as the roaring wind rattled the palm fronds and large foamy waves crashed on the sand. We had to brace ourselves to keep our balance. We quickly went indoors, our eyes burning from the wind and our skin chilled from the driving rain. The next morning, bright azure skies greeted a glorious sunrise. Small waves lapped at the beach, palm trees fluttered, and all was peaceful.
Life can be much the same way. The tempests of serious illness, anxiety, job changes, marital difficulties, relationship challenges, business setbacks, and other storms of life threaten our sense of well-being. Our faith may even falter. But throughout the turmoil, God is always with us as promised in Isaiah. And our hearts and minds can find rest and peace once more.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Lord Jesus, be with us this day, in tempests and in calm. Comfort us with the knowledge that you are always near. Amen.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
God is with me through tempests and struggle, offering peace.
PRAYER FOCUS
Those facing a life crisis
