In Matthew 14, the disciples obeyed Jesus and got into the boat. Yet they found themselves in turbulent waters, exhausted and afraid. It was in that moment — when the wind was fierce and hope seemed distant — that Jesus came to them walking on the water.
What a picture of Jesus’ authority! He walks on what threatens to drown us.
Peter, ever bold, asked to come to Jesus. As long as his eyes were on the Savior, he did the impossible. But the moment he shifted his focus to the wind, fear took over, and he began to sink.
Yet even in sinking, Peter did something powerful: he cried out.
“Lord, save me!”
And immediately, Jesus reached out and rescued him.
That’s the heart of today’s devotion:
👉 Storms will come. But fear doesn’t have the final word — faith does. And even when faith falters, grace rescues.
You may not always walk perfectly, but Jesus always reaches perfectly.
Prayer Points:
-
Refocus on Jesus
“Lord, help me to fix my eyes on You, not the storms around me.” -
Faith to Step Out
“Give me courage, Lord, to step out in faith when You call me, even when it doesn’t make sense.” -
Grace for When I Sink
“Father, when I falter, may I always remember to cry out to You. Thank You for always reaching out immediately.” -
Peace in the Storm
“Jesus, calm the winds around me, and even more, calm the storm inside me.”
