SCRIPTURE READING: Luke 13:6-9(KJV)
6 He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.
7 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?
8 And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:
9 And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
FOCUS VERSE: “Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?” (Luke 13: 7)
Streams of Joy Wednesday July 16, 2025 Devotional Message:
In our Focal Scripture, when the owner of the fig tree saw that it had no fruit to offer him, he demanded that it be cut down. This was the same man who owned the fig tree, and the vineyard. Because he could not find fruit on the fig tree, he demanded that it be cut down. Because he could not find what he needed, he turned against the fig tree. He expected results from the fig tree, and when he didn’t see it, he became an enemy.
Friend, glean some wisdom: when you fail to bring results that your generation needs, even friends may become enemies. Some supporters may turn to opposers because of the results they seek from you which they are yet to find. Some people who should ordinarily be on your side may turn against you because you are unable to bring forth the results they expect from you. The results you fail to give may turn friends to enemies.
In your journey through life, there are relationships you will only be able to maintain on the basis of the results you are able to give; the moment you stop giving such important results, you might lose your hold on such relationships. There are levels of access that only your capacity and results will help you retain. There are levels that will reject you once you are unable to bring the results that are needed at that level.
Did you notice that the owner of the fig tree was not interested in anything else as he came to the fig tree, other than results? Did you notice that when results were not available, he was ready to cut it down? Be intentional to live with a mindset of providing results that will make a difference in the lives of those around you. Without results, you won’t be needed, and without results, men will cut you down without mercy.
Don’t be counted amongst them who count on sentiments when results are demanded for. In all your becoming, be intentional to bring forth results.
Psalm 92: 13-14 says: “13. Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. 14. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;”
DECLARATION: I walk in results, in Jesus’ name!
