“He maketh my feet like hinds’ feet, and setteth me upon my high places.” (Psalm 18: 33)
SCRIPTURE READING: John 5: 1-14 (KJV)
1 After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.
10 The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.
11 He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.
12 Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?
13 And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place.
14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

Streams of Joy Daily Devotional 15th August 2025 MESSAGE:
In our Focal Scripture, apart from instructing the man at the pool of Bethesda to rise and take up his bed, Jesus also instructed him to walk. This was a man who had been stuck in one place as a result of his condition. He had been stagnated by his challenge. He had been unable to walk for years unending; but Jesus showed up, and commanded him to walk. Jesus showed up, and commanded him to do what he previously could not do.
Friend, it’s time to rise and do what you have been unable to do all these years. It’s time to rise and take those steps that the enemy stopped you from taking all along. It’s time to rise and explore the capacities that have been dormant in you. It’s time to rise to the occasion of doing what you have failed to do in the past. It’s time to walk the talk. It’s time to take a step. You may not have everything figured out, but dare to rise and walk.
Walking meant that the man at the pool was not going to remain at the place where he got his healing. He was going to make fresh movements, away from where he met Jesus. He was going to move forward from where his infirmity left him. Jesus is giving you same instruction today: rise and make movements. Rise and make progress. It’s not enough to rise and remain in the same place. Rise and make progress that is discernible.
If indeed you are risen with Christ, stagnation is not a part of the deal. If Jesus has set you free, you have no business remaining at the same place where you have been. Jesus did not set you free so that you can remain on the same level. Jesus raised you so that you can make movements in your walk with him, in your family, marriage, finances, health, vocation, business, etc. Jesus set you free so that you can make fresh movements.
Welcome to that season where you must arise and move. Welcome to that season where stagnation is not allowed.
DECLARATION:
I receive grace to carry whatever carried me before, in Jesus’ name!
