Streams of Joy Daily Devotional 26 July 2024 (Friday) Message

SCRIPTURE READING: 1 Samuel 17: 1-53
FOCUS VERSE: “So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.” (1 Samuel 17: 50)
Our Focal Scripture makes mention of how David prevailed over Goliath with a sling and a stone. David fired a stone on the forehead of Goliath, and it was enough to bring him down. He fired a stone on a giant, and the giant fell with his face to the ground. It would have made sense if some bigger weapon was used, but it was just a sling and a stone. David clearly had a relationship with God, and he only needed a small stone to bring down a giant.
Friend, the conquest of David over Goliath is a clear example of grace. When grace is involved, small stones bring down great giants. When grace is involved, little efforts yield mega results. When grace is involved, results appear to come too easily. When grace is involved, results exceed expectations. When grace is involved, what is impossible with men becomes possible. When grace is involved, success comes forth where men had failed.
Notice that Goliath was the same man who had held the entire armies of Israel spellbound for forty days; Goliath was the same man whom they heard his voice and all ran into hiding. David came face to face with the seemingly insurmountable Goliath, and all he needed was a small stone. Hear me as I hear the Lord: grace will empower you to do what other men are afraid to do. Grace will empower you to do the unbelievable.
Grace will make your journey to the top easier to achieve. Grace will open the doors that hard work alone will not open. Grace will position you on higher levels. Grace will cause you to be preferred above your rivals and competitors. Grace will turn your life around for good. Grace will give you results that mere labour will not give.
Grace will offer you more than your capacity can offer. Grace will be your advantage as you step out.
If you have to do all that others did, where then is the place of grace? If you have to struggle as much as everyone did, where is the grace of God at work in you?
Isaiah 60: 22 says: “A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the LORD will hasten it in his time.”
DECLARATION: Grace is my advantage; grace will give me more than I can deliver, in Jesus’ name!
