SCRIPTURE READING: Luke 8: 41-56
41 And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue. And he fell down at Jesus’ feet and begged Him to come to his house, 42 for he had an only daughter about twelve years of age, and she was dying.
But as He went, the multitudes thronged Him. 43 Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, 44 came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.
45 And Jesus said, “Who touched Me?”
When all denied it, Peter [a]and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes throng and press You, [b]and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ”
46 But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.” 47 Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately.
48 And He said to her, “Daughter, [c]be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”
49 While He was still speaking, someone came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, “Your daughter is dead. Do not trouble the [d]Teacher.”
50 But when Jesus heard it, He answered him, saying, “Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well.” 51 When He came into the house, He permitted no one to go [e]in except [f]Peter, James, and John, and the father and mother of the girl. 52 Now all wept and mourned for her; but He said, “Do not weep; she is not dead, but sleeping.” 53 And they ridiculed Him, knowing that she was dead.
54 But He [g]put them all outside, took her by the hand and called, saying, “Little girl, arise.” 55 Then her spirit returned, and she arose immediately. And He commanded that she be given something to eat. 56 And her parents were astonished, but He charged them to tell no one what had happened.
FOCUS VERSE: “And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.” (Luke 8: 54)
It is instructive to observe that before Jairus’ daughter was raised from the dead, Jesus had healed the woman with the issue of blood. Jairus specially requested that Jesus should come to his house. Jairus wanted the miracle coming his way to involve Jesus coming to his house. Notice that there were people in his house who needed to be driven away for his miracle to be birthed. Jesus needed to enter his house before his miracle came.
Friend, you may need to ask Jesus to come into your house. Jesus needs to come in and drive away those who are opposing the change that needs to happen in your life. Jesus needs to come in and change the atmosphere of your destiny. Jesus needs to come in and turn the situation of your life around. Jesus needs to come in and upstage the systems of hell that hold sway around you. Jesus needs to crumble the seat of Satan.
It may have been enough for some people to receive their miracles without having Jesus come into their home, but for Jairus, he needed Jesus to come in first, and give him his miracle. It’s not enough to desire miracles by the hand of God; let Jesus come inside your home first; allow Jesus to have space in your inner man as you seek to receive from Him; allow Jesus to be in you as you seek to receive from His hands.
Notice that when Jesus came into the house of Jairus, He did not only raise his daughter from the dead; He also sent away those who created an atmosphere of doubt around the miracle of Jairus. Jesus came in and did more than just a miracle. When Jesus comes in, He does more than just a miracle; He also helps you to become. When Jesus comes into your inner man, He creates a new man that eventually can receive the miracle He brings.
Don’t only seek to receive from the hand of God. Seek that Jesus will come into your house. Open the doors of your life and let Jesus come in already.
Revelations 3: 20 says: “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”
DECLARATION: The doors of my life are open to Jesus; He is coming in, in Jesus’ name!
