Streams of Joy 7th February 2025 Daily Devotional (Friday) Message
TOPIC: Ahead of the Crowd
SCRIPTURE READING: 2 Kings 9
“Then they hasted, and took every man his garment, and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew with trumpets, saying, Jehu is king.” (2 Kings 9: 13)
Our Focal Scripture speaks of that moment when the fellow captains that earlier sat with Jehu took off their garments and put same on the stairs, after which they blew trumpets to announce that Jehu had become king. Moments before this episode, they all sat as fellow captains and servants of the king. In a twist that could only be explained by El Roi, one captain became king. One captain was placed ahead of other captains.
Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: this is that year when you will be placed ahead of the crowd. El Roi is taking you ahead of your contemporaries. El Roi is placing you ahead of those who are currently on same level with you. El Roi is about to elevate you to levels you never imagined you would ever be in. El Roi has penciled your name down for a raise. You are about to ascend to your next level. You are about to rise above your equals.
Jehu was not just elevated to become the chief of the soldiers. He was elevated to become the king of Israel. His elevation took him to a new realm that did not look like where he had been. Hear me as I hear the Lord: you are about to enter into realms that do not look like where you have been. You are about to enter into realms that will dwarf your current levels. You are about to get that elevation that will shock everyone who knows you.
Recall that the elevation of Jehu had been given as an instruction to Elijah, but was eventually fulfilled under Elisha. It may have been an elevation delayed, but it was certainly not denied. Hear me as I hear the Lord: whatever elevation that has been delayed in your life will certainly return to you on a higher level. Every delayed elevation is becoming your reality. Whatever next level you have missed, God is bringing it to you in this season.
Welcome to that season where the mighty hands of El Roi will place you ahead of your contemporaries. Welcome to that season where El Roi will place you ahead of the crowd.
Deuteronomy 28: 13 says: “And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:”
