Streams of Joy 6 July 2025 Devotional (Sunday) Message

SCRIPTURE READING: Luke 13
FOCUS VERSE: “He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.” (Luke 13: 6)
In our Focal Scripture, Jesus tells a parable about a fig tree. Another major characteristic of a fig tree is its ability to grow in different kinds of soil. It can survive and thrive in organically rich soils. It can also grow even in clay soils. It has the capacity to grow whether the soil is favourable or not. It has the capacity to grow and thrive both in ‘rich’ soils and ‘poor’ soils. It has what it takes to grow and thrive in all manner of soils, good or not good.
Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: you are like the fig tree, and you will grow and thrive whether the soil be good or not so good. You will grow and thrive whether the people in power are in your favour or not in your favour. You will grow and thrive whether the policies are good or not good. You will grow and thrive whether the environment is great or not great. You will grow and thrive whether the best is available or not.
Hear me as I hear the Lord: no matter who rises in the corridors of power, you will grow and thrive and remain relevant. No matter who likes you or does not like you, you will continue to thrive and grow. No matter the helpers that stay or walk away, you will still thrive. No matter the systems and how they change, you will still thrive. No matter how your environment fights your increase, you will still increase on every side.
Your greatness is not in the soil where you are planted. Your greatness is planted in you, by El Roi, the God that sees you. Your greatness is a blessing on you, it’s not about your environment. You will thrive, and no ‘soil’ will be able to take the glory for your thriving. No policy will take the glory for your greatness. No man will take the glory for your greatness. If the soil moves from being rich to being poor, you will still thrive.
Welcome to that season where you will survive no matter how the odds are stacked against you. Welcome to that season where the systems of men will not hinder you from thriving and growing.
Psalm 1: 3 says: “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
DECLARATION: Nothing and no one will stop my growth, in Jesus’ name!
