Streams of Joy 30th May 2025 Devotional (Monday) Message

SCRIPTURE READING: John 6: 1-14
FOCUS VERSE: “Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.” (John 6: 13)
Our Focal Scripture speaks of how the disciples of Jesus gathered the fragments of the barley loaves and filled twelve baskets. The barley loaves and fishes were taken from a lad in the multitude, but notice that there was no mention of the person or persons whom the baskets were taken from. It is easy to deduce that the baskets were first empty before they were used to gather the fragments. The emptiness of the baskets made room for the expression of the overflow of loaves.
Friend, I plead with you: never step out of destiny empty. Never show up empty. Never approach your assignments with emptiness. Never turn up at the market place without capacity. Never show up to confront the battles and challenges of life with emptiness in your spirit man. Never show up to contend with the enemy with spiritual emptiness. Never make the mistake of allowing yourself to be empty as you meet your opportunities.
Your emptiness is someone else’s opportunity to walk in their overflow. When you show up empty, you give another man a chance to shine. When you show up empty, you are making room for another man to be preferred above you. When you show up empty, you make room for others to thrive to your detriment. When you show up empty, you become an appendage of another man’s destiny mandate.
Mention was clearly made that a lad provided the five loaves and two fishes, but the person or persons whom the baskets were taken from, were not deemed worthy of mention in scripture. Their emptiness caused them to be forgotten and their identities to be swallowed. To be empty is to be forgotten. To be empty is to be replaced. To be empty is to have your identity swept under the carpet. To be empty is to lose completely.
Don’t be counted amongst them who face destiny with emptiness. In all your getting, get content; in all your getting, get knowledge, get understanding, gain capacity and competence, be filled in your spirit man; and never show up empty in destiny.
Isaiah 35: 3 says: “Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.”
DECLARATION: I will never show up empty in destiny, in Jesus’ name!
