Streams of Joy 27th November 2024 Daily Devotional (Wednesday) Message
TOPIC: Discern Your Doors
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Acts 16:16-28
“But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.” (Acts 16: 28)
After the doors of the prison were unlocked and after the chains on Paul and Silas were broken by the earthquake, Paul and Silas did not immediately escape from the prison. They waited to be brought out. Their doors were open, but they waited until the jailor brought them out. Their shackles were all broken, they had capacity to move, but they waited to have their movement come the right way.
Friend, there are times when God will open a door, but receive discernment to know when to enter into it. The wrong timing of your entrance into your open door can be a set up for premature obituary. Not every open door is your door. Not every door that has opened to you requires you to move immediately without discernment. That a door has opened to you does not always mean that the next thing to do is to move immediately.
Paul and Silas waited to be brought out; they did not run out. There are times when after the doors have been opened to you, you must wait to be brought out rather than running out. You may need to wait for your jailor to bring you out in peace, rather than running out in rancor. You may need to wait for your access to be given to you at the right timing, rather than mess everything up with wrong and inappropriate timing.
Receive grace to do the will of God when your doors open. Receive discernment to know when to move when your doors open. Receive grace to please God when your doors open. Receive grace to make heaven proud when your doors open. Receive grace to show restraint when your doors open. Receive grace to depart from misbehavior when your doors open. Receive grace to still number your days and apply your heart to wisdom.
Don’t be counted amongst those whose open doors became their nemesis. Don’t be counted amongst those whose open doors messed up their destinies. Don’t let your open doors become heaven’s regret.
Revelation 3: 8 says: “I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.”
DECLARATION: I receive grace to discern when to move into my open doors, in Jesus’ name!
