Streams of Joy 26th January 2025 Daily Devotional (Sunday) Message
TOPIC: Stay Under Tutelage
SCRIPTURE READING: 2 Kings 9
“And Elisha the prophet called one of the children of the prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy loins, and take this box of oil in thine hand, and go to Ramothgilead:” (2 Kings 9: 1)
In our Focal Scripture, Elisha called one of the sons of the Prophets and sent him on a mission to Ramothgilead. A son of the prophet, in bible times, was a prophet in training. So, Elisha sought for a prophet in training, and sent him on the assignment of anointing Jehu as king. Elisha sought a prophet that was under tutelage, and sent him on the mission of anointing Jehu. The man that was sent to anoint Jehu was under tutelage.
Friend, in 2025, one of the major favours you will do yourself is to stay under the tutelage of those who will help you journey into your new season. Position yourself to learn from the best. Learn from those who are ahead of you. Connect with those whose knowledge will be beneficial to you. Connect to people who will enable you to learn what you ordinarily will not be able to learn. Be intentional to submit yourself under proper tutelage.
Elisha was a major prophet in his time, and he sent someone under his tutelage to go and perform an important function. Sometimes, the greatness under which you have chosen to be under tutelage, will determine the greatness you will eventually attain. The more you learn from the best, the more you get the opportunity that comes to the best. The more you learn from the right men, the more you become right like them.
There is no wisdom in not knowing and not learning from those that know. It makes no sense to journey in life without learning a thing or two from those who are clearly ahead of you. If you fail to learn when you should, you will be bereft of ideas on how to deal when the time to anoint a Jehu arises. If you fail to learn, you will end up looking emptier than you are supposed to. If you fail to learn, you will be embarrassed when it matters.
No matter how much you already know, keep learning. You will never be wrong learning more, and you will never be wrong learning from the best.
Proverbs 18: 15 says: “The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.”
