Streams of Joy 25th December 2024 Daily Devotional (Wednesday) Message
TOPIC: Review Your Offers
“And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.” (Matthew 2: 11)
When the wise men came to Jesus, they offered Him gold, and frankincense and myrrh. In bible times, gold was symbolic of kingship; frankincense was symbolic of the priesthood, while myrrh was used as an embalming agent. So, the wise men gave Jesus gifts that were symbolic of kingship, priesthood and death. They gave Him gifts that were symbolic of the roles He was to play. They gave Him gifts that aligned with His future.
Friend, whatever gifts men are offering you, are they in alignment with your tomorrow? The gifts you are accepting from men, are they pointers to who you are to become? As you accept offers from men and institutions, be careful to discern if they are taking you closer to, or further away from your divine purpose. Always discern whether the gifts you receive are truly for someone going in your direction. Discern if gifts align with your future.
The wise men brought Jesus gifts, and all the gifts were symbolic of who He should become in a matter of time. Their offers to Him represented heaven’s agenda for His life. It’s not enough to want to have whatever men can give you. Always ask the most important question of whether what they offer you are pointers to heaven’s agenda for you. Always interrogate every offer you receive and discern if they speak of your tomorrow.
There are gifts a man receives and he begins a journey down a slippery slope at an alarming speed. There are gifts that close tomorrow’s doors. There are gifts that distract men from who God destined them to be. There are gifts that may make men to become less than they should have been. In your desperation to receive, have the discernment to differentiate between gifts you need and gifts you don’t need.
View everything that comes your way through the binoculars of your tomorrow and heaven’s agenda for your tomorrow. If it does not fit into God’s plan, then don’t have it.
Proverbs 14: 12 says: “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
DECLARATION: I refuse to have what is not in line with heaven’s agenda for my life, in Jesus’ name!
