TOPIC: Godly Character: A Weapon of Defense

SCRIPTURE: By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left. – 2 Corinthians 6:7
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Godly character is an amour. It is a weapon of defense against the adversary.
Sometime ago, I heard a story of someone who was sitting in between two friends at an alcoholic joint drinking. When they were done drinking, they said to him, “Can we move?” But surprisingly, he could not move anymore. He could not stand. Eventually, it was confirmed that life had left him.
When a postmortem investigation was carried out to ascertain the cause of his death, it was discovered that he died of poison, his drink was poisoned, possibly by one of the friends that he was drinking with. He died at the frequency of his passion for alcohol. What a sad story!
Obviously, he was at the wrong place doing the wrong thing with the wrong people and consequently met a wrong fate. He was not in church, and it was not Holy Communion he was drinking. No one would have put poison in a cup of Holy Communion for him to drink, and even if that was the case, it would have returned to the sender. It was alcohol, liquid hell that they laced with poison, and he drank it and reported straight in hell.
Meanwhile, a godly man took concentrated hydrochloric acid from the fridge and drank it, thinking it was water and nothing happened to him. Of course, hydrochloric acid is as transparent as water. He drank it before realizing that it was not water. Someone who saw him drinking it screamed, “Ah! You just drank acid.” He shouted by faith, “No! It cannot be acid. I just drank water.” And true to his audacious declaration, it turned into water in his body by the amour of righteousness and faith.
Beloved, godly character is an amour. It is a weapon of defense against the adversary. Righteousness is an amour; it is a weapon of both defense and offence. That is why Ephesians 6:14 says, Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness. So, righteousness is an amour. That is why when that amour is out of place, there is a challenge (Ecclesiastes 10:8).
Beloved, anything that is pushing you into compromise is pulling off your shield and weapon of defense. Keep your righteousness intact, it is your amour.
Remember this: Godly character is an amour. It is a weapon of defense against the adversary.
ASSIGNMENT (S):
1. Say ‘No’ to the lifestyle of compromise and sin.
2. Ask God for mercy and repent promptly if you have compromised in any way.
PRAYER: Lord, I receive the grace to live in righteousness. Thank You for the preservation of my life, family and destiny, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
