TOPIC: Crookedness – A Sure Way To Generational Destruction
SCRIPTURE: And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones.
Joshua 7:25.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When you decide to be crooked today, you jeopardise the destinies of your children and future generations.
SEEDS OF DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE – JANUARY 21, 2024
When the children of Israel destroyed Jericho on their way to the Promised Land, God told them not to touch or take anything because everything in Jericho would be cursed. Despite this warning, Achan decided to take a Babylonish garment, a wedge of gold and some silver from Jericho.
As a result of this, Israel was beaten in a battle by a tiny nation called Ai. Thus, Israel turned their back and fled from their enemies, and that was an abomination.
When Joshua went before God in fasting and prayers for three days to inquire the reason for the tragedy and calamity that befell Israel, God told him that the people had touched an accursed thing.
“Who touched the accursed thing?” Joshua decided to ask, but nobody owned up to it until they cast lot and the lot fell on a particular tribe; from that tribe to a particular family, and from that family, it fell on a particular person – Achan.
In Joshua 7:19-25, Achan and his family members were stoned to death. Achan took only a Babylonish garment, a wedge of gold and some silver but he lost everything he had, including his own life and those of his family members, all in one day. Even all the riches he had before he stole were lost because of what he stole.
What a lesson! Taking what you have not been given will make you lose what you legitimately have.
One of the worst tragedies or consequences of his action was the extermination of his family – his wife and children died with him.
What a lesson! What a person does now can affect his wife and children and even his future generation. Corrupt and fraudulent people jeopardize the destinies of their family members and those of their future generations.
Beloved, the lesson is, the crookedness of today equals the wretchedness of tomorrow. When you decide to be crooked today, you jeopardise the destinies of your children and future generations. Crookedness is a sure way to generational destruction.
REMEMBER THIS: When you decide to be crooked today, you jeopardise the destinies of your children and future generations.
ASSIGNMENTS:
- Refuse to end your life and those of your future generations by crookedness.
- Teach your children the principles of upright living to preserve your future generations before God.
PRAYER: Lord, I ask that You deliver me from crooked living. I refuse to cut my life and those of my children short by crookedness. Give me the grace to live right, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
