TOPIC: The Force of Choice

SCRIPTURE: I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: Deuteronomy 30:19
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: If your choice is in place, your history cannot defeat your destiny.
Scriptural events and the experiences of life reveal that life’s outcome is a product of choice. Decision is pathway to destiny.
The road you follow in life determines the place you will end. You cannot follow the wrong road and end up at the right place. And you cannot follow the right road and end at the wrong place. It is also crucial to note that things may fall by chance, but if they must rise, they rise by choice. For instance, a book may fall from a table by chance. But if it is to go up the table, it must go up by the force of choice.
Now, let’s look at a typical scriptural example of someone who was made by the force of choice: Ruth became one of the earthly progenitors of our Lord Jesus against all odds by the power of choice.
Ruth was one of the daughters-in-law of Naomi. She was a Moabitess from the incestuous tribe of Moab. And God had said that the Israelites should have no dealings with the Moabites. In fact, a Moabite was not permitted to enter the assembly of the Lord even to the tenth generation. When Orpah, the other daughter-in-law kissed Naomi and left at a critical time in the life of Naomi, Ruth made a choice to remain with Naomi, her mother-in-law and that choice made her.
She said to her mother-in-law, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: (Ruth 1:16). And the two of them came to Bethlehem and Ruth’s life changed forever.
Choice is a force. And the force of choice is key to change. When the right choice is made, even God cannot say, ‘No.’ If God cannot say, ‘No’, who else can say, ‘No?’ No devil, witch, or ancestral curse can say, ‘No’ when God says, ‘Yes.’
Arch. Bishop Benson Idahosa (of blessed memory) once said, “If faith says, ‘yes’, God can also say, ‘No’. The same God who said, Israelites should not mingle with the Moabites, so honored the choice of Ruth, that He made Ruth to remarry. She married Boaz. And they gave birth to Obed. Obed gave birth to Jesse, the father of David. And David became one of the forefathers of Jesus Christ. Mary and Joseph came from the root of David in the tribe of Judah. Thus, a Moabite woman became a great-great-great-great-grandmother of Jesus by the power of choice.
The truth is, every law is changeable by choice. If your choice is in place, your history cannot defeat your destiny.
Any ancestral curse, generational decree, or verdict of your father’s house, that may be working against you is changeable by choice. And the choices you are making today are going to determine the entire course of your life.
Remember this: If your choice is in place, your history cannot defeat your destiny.

- Make the choice to go up, stay up and impact your generation for God.
- Refuse to let any negative history affect your today and your future.
PRAYER: Lord, thank You for granting me access to the realm of greatness in You through the power of choice. I choose the winning life regardless of the enemy’s agenda, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
