TOPIC: Building Rightly!
OPENING PRAYER: Dear Lord, I pray that you sanctify my spirit, soul and body as I read your word in Jesus name.
SCRIPTURE: 1 Corinthians 3:10-23
QUESTION FOR REFLECTION
• Q 5: Is there any warning for me to heed?
To build aright matters. It involves both the quality of materials used (v.12) and how we build (v.10). Yet, a third key factor is our spiritual state (v.9b; 2 Timothy 2:20,21). The materials mentioned in v.12 that could be used to build on the foundation that has already been laid speak of varying qualities (v.13). We are saved by grace and not by works; but we are saved to do good works. Each work that we do will be tested for its spiritual content to reveal its real worth. For example, two people may visit the same sick person. While it will be reckoned as gold for one, it may be straw for the other. Think of possible reasons for this!
The “you” in vs.16-18 is plural and refers to the whole church. Just as a believer’s body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (6:19), so is the local church or group of believers God’s temple (v.18). What we do to one affects the other. We must therefore constantly examine ourselves in relation to the Lord, our relationship with others and our service for the Lord.
PRACTICE/WORD APPLICATION
Action: Keep a record of all your major activities today. Review each at the end of the day. How do you think God would grade it: gold, silver, or straw? Note that your motive is very important.

Give me the wisdom and right attitude to build acceptably for you, Lord.

► For the Spirit of unity to work together as one man.
► That members will be clothed with humility and submit to one another.
PRAY AGAINST:
► Pride, self-centredness, envy, and unforgiveness, which hinder the move of God among His people.
