Scripture Union Daily Guide 9th April 2021

Scripture Union Daily Guide 9 April 2021, Friday Message

TOPIC: God Knows All About Me

Opening Prayer: Plant my steps in the sure promises of your word today, dear Lord.

Scripture: Psalm 139:1- 12

Question(s) for Reflection
• What does the passage teach about God the Father, God the Son or God the Holy Spirit? • What is God revealing to me in this passage?

Our understanding of who God is determines the way we relate with Him. This Psalm reveals why David was a man after God’s own heart. He knew some important truths about God that helped him to relate with God acceptably. What nature of God can you see in vs.2-4? What does that tell you about God and the way He relates with us?

Our God is all-knowing and just. He has perfect knowledge of us. Our inward motivations and outward actions are all naked and open before Him. So, to think you can hide anything from God is self-deception. He is thoroughly familiar with our thoughts, words and daily activities, and deals with us accordingly, in line with His mercy and grace (cf. Jeremiah 17:9-10).

David was overwhelmed by the omniscience of God and felt that it is too wonderful (vs.5-6). This shows that the knowledge of God is too high for humans to comprehend without the help of His Spirit. Read vs.7–12 again and take note of God’s pervading presence. There is no escaping from Him (cf. Jeremiah 23:23-24).

Practice/Word Application
• So what? We have an all-knowing ever-present God, so think carefully before you act.
• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
• Oh Lord, search my heart … (v.1) • Pray against harmful books and multimedia materials that masquerade as Christian materials.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with
Lev. 13; Heb. 10:19-39
