Scripture Union Daily Guide 8 March 2026 | OUTLINE
God directed Jeremiah to purchase a piece of land at a time when Jerusalem was under siege from the Babylonian army and he was imprisoned in the palace (Jeremiah 32:1-9). If you were Jeremiah, would you have bought the land?
Considering that this was about a year before Jerusalem finally fell to the Babylonians, and that the captivity would last seventy years, Jeremiah’s action was ludicrous and illogical. This is what our faith could involve. Sometimes, God might require us to express our faith in ways that do not make sense to us, to demonstrate to others that we have faith in His word and believe what we preach (James 2:26). How do you think Jeremiah’s obedience to God (Jeremiah 32:10-14) must have affected his audience? Jeremiah’s action was a visible expression of his faith in God and belief in the authenticity of the prophecies he had given about the future restoration of Jerusalem (Jeremiah 32:15).
Read Jeremiah 32:16-25 again. Observe that Jeremiah was worried about the transaction (Jeremiah 32:25), but he rolled over his doubt to God and fortified his faith in prayer.
What else can we learn from Jeremiah 32:10-14?

HYMN:Glory and Grace in the Person of Christ
1. Now to the Lord a noble song!
Awake, my soul, awake, my tongue,
Hosanna to th’Eternal Name,
And all His boundless love proclaim.
2. See where it shines in Jesus’ face,
The brightest image of His grace;
God, in the person of His Son,
Has all His mightiest works outdone.
3. Grace! ‘tis a sweet, a charming theme;
My thoughts rejoice at Jesus’ name!
Ye angels, dwell upon the sound;
Ye heav’ns, reflect it to the ground.
4 O may I reach the happy place,
Where He unveils His lovely face;
His beauties there may I behold,
And sing His name to harps of gold.
Amen.

Lord, grant me strength and grace to do what you ask me to do. Help me to remain strong in faith all the days of my life.
