Scripture Union Daily Guide – 7 November 2025 OUTLINE
In the ancient world, speakers were advised to encourage after warnings (Hebrews 10:26-31). The author here does this with a reminder that his readers had responded well in the past. Hebrews 10:32-34 is one of the clues to the Hebrew believer’s situation. We all go through difficult times, but with endurance and Christ on our side, we will overcome. We must have exceptional confidence and prolonged patience in the Word of God with no “Ifs” or “Maybes” (Hebrews 10:35-36). Get rid of “Ifs” and “Maybes”. God’s promises might sometimes seem to “delay”, but they will come right on time – they will not turn out to be false.
Apostle Paul uses Habakkuk to emphasize our need to have faith in Jesus (Romans 1:17; Galatians 3:11). They are not to throw away their hopes for the future. Why? Read Hebrews 10:36. The real reward is the presence of God and sharing in His joy forever. He supported His words with biblical exhortations (Hebrews 10:37-38; cf. Habakkuk 2:3-4). God is pleased when we have faith; He is disappointed when we shrink back (Hebrews 10:39). Also see Apostle James’s exhortation in James 5:7-11.
