Scripture Union Daily Guide – 6 December 2025 | OUTLINE
Judah is overtaken by severe drought and famine (Jeremiah 14:1-6) with devastating consequences. As usual, when they are distressed, the people cried out to God. But God rejected their plea because they did not repent; they merely wanted His rescue. Notice the heartfelt plea of Jeremiah to the Lord in Jeremiah 14:7-9. But God refused to answer his prayers. Why? Read Jeremiah 14:10-11. The people knew He wanted to bless them. They also knew what they must do to receive that blessing. They wanted God to do His part, but they did not want to do theirs.
The false prophets only worsened their case. They only tell the people what they want to hear. By giving them false hope of peace, they make them feel at ease, further leading them away from God. This is the reason we must, like the Apostles of old, ensure never to spare the false prophets and teachers of our day (1 Peter 2:1-4). It is easy to express sorrow for wrong actions especially when we want something. But we must stop doing what is wrong. God will forgive those who truly repent. Hypocrites will be seriously punished.

* Always being good to those who wait for Him • His grace and strength on the lives of our youths who started from the very first stage of this year’s competition, and have made it to the final stage
PRAY FOR:
* Journey mercies as they travel to the venue of the competition • The application of the Bible truth they are reading and from the questions they are answering • Reverence for God in their lives, as God uses this competition to reach out to some of them
PRAY AGAINST:
* Pride and arrogance due to accomplishment, thereby missing out on the message of what they are learning
