• Is there any command for me to obey?

Scripture Union Daily Guide 6 August 2020 Message

We have here the description of the new magnificent sanctuary Solomon built for the Lord. Whatever is worth doing is worth doing very well. It took seven long years to complete this elegant building which had many fixtures to it. He lavished a lot of money to purchase cedar woods and much gold for the building. All the inside walls, the ceilings, and floors of the Temple were covered with cedar boards and planks of pine.

The altar was covered with gold. The artistic beauty most probably elicited the worship of God. On two separate occasions we read that Solomon “built the Temple and completed it” (vv.9,14). Having begun to build, he was both able and willing to finish. He was indeed a wise builder. The end result was no doubt, a spectacle. And the Lord took notice of the work Solomon did.

However, what matters most to him is different. Identify this from vv.11–13. These three verses looked like an interlude in a whole chapter with the details of what the building was made of. It is not the building that would retain the presence of God with his people. What would (v.13)?
