QUESTION FOR REFLECTION
• Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
Scripture Union Daily Guide 5th October 2022 OUTLINE
In our previous study, we read that the Temple was elegantly built and beautifully furnished (2 Chronicles 4). In v.1 of our text today, we learnt that Solomon completed the building work.
Our nations are often full of incomplete projects, started with fanfare but abandoned along the line. Not so Solomon. He also brought into the temple the offerings his father David dedicated to the temple– the articles of gold, silver etc. The temple at this point was “glorious” but without God’s presence.
The ark of the Lord’s covenant (v.2) was a symbol of God’s presence. All the decorations and furnishings would be useless without it. How can we ensure God’s presence in our lives, churches, fellowships and even in our homes? Their sincere worship brought down the presence of God (v.6).
See also vs.12‐13. In their worship, they gave offerings to the Lord and sang praises with musical instruments. Note that it was not only that the ark was there, but the accompanying presence of God caused His glory to come down as well (vs.13b‐14). It is the most desirable experience!
PRACTICE/WORD APPLICATION
So: We must move from dead religious activities to true Christian faith which brings God’s glory into our worship and fellowship.
