Scripture Union Daily Guide 5th March 2024 TOPIC: A Lesson on Servanthood
OPENING PRAYER: Dear Lord, expose me to your truth as I read your word in Jesus name.
SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY: John 13:1-20

• Q2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
• Q7: What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?
What does it mean for Jesus to love His disciples to the end (v.1)? Though Judas was a disciple, yet the devil prompted him to betray his Lord (v.2). Can this also happen to us? While pointing accusing fingers at Judas, we should not forget that we are also liable to such errors. Whenever we choose to please ourselves rather than the Lord, we have also betrayed Him.
Jesus had said in Luke 22:24 that He did not come to be served but to serve. How did He demonstrate this to His disciples in vs.3-5? Read vs.12-17 again. Notice that by this act, Jesus sets an example for us to follow. What a lesson in servanthood! To serve others in this manner, we must throw away every form of pride (v.4), clothe ourselves with attitudes of humility and servanthood, like Jesus (Philippians 2:5-8) and be willing to do anything that will add value to the souls of men.
Vs.6a-8, show that there is no one who is so clean and does not need Jesus’ cleansing. He knows each of us inside. out and where we need cleansing.

Lord Jesus, help me to be humble like you as I serve others.

THANK GOD FOR:
• The youths that are being saved and added to the Ministry.
PRAY FOR:
• Increased knowledge of God, ability to walk worthy of the Lord and to always please him in this adulterous generation.
• God to equip them with everything good to carry out his will, being examples of believers at home, school, church and society.
• Spirit of godliness, contentment, hard-work and excellence at everything they do; and divine direction, establishment, preservation and provision for their needs.
PRAY AGAINST:
• Every compromise, worldliness, covetousness and ungodly lifestyles like yahoo+, cutting corners to success.
