OPENING PRAYER: Dear Lord, I pray that you order my steps today through your word as I meditate on it.
SCRIPTURE READING – Psalms 95:1-11
1 Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;
let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before him with thanksgiving
and extol him with music and song.
3 For the Lord is the great God,
the great King above all gods.
4 In his hand are the depths of the earth,
and the mountain peaks belong to him.
5 The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands formed the dry land.
6 Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;
7 for he is our God
and we are the people of his pasture,
the flock under his care.
Today, if only you would hear his voice,
8 “Do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah,[a]
as you did that day at Massah[b] in the wilderness,
9 where your ancestors tested me;
they tried me, though they had seen what I did.
10 For forty years I was angry with that generation;
I said, ‘They are a people whose hearts go astray,
and they have not known my ways.’
11 So I declared on oath in my anger,
‘They shall never enter my rest.’”
QUESTION FOR MEDITATION:
► Q3: Is there any command for me to obey?
Scripture Union Daily Guide 31 May 2025 – OUTLINE
Notice the different ways the Psalmist calls us to worship God in Psalms 95:1-2. Worship is both private as well as collective or congregational. Four times we have, “Let us”. Also note the reasons we should worship God freely and vibrantly (Psalms 95:1,3-7). The Lord is indeed our good Shepherd (cf. John 10, Psalms 23) and we are His flock. He speaks and He expects us to listen to His voice and follow His guidance.
Observe how the psalmist links worship with obedience (Psalms 95:7b-11). He reminds us of the terrible experience of the Israelites from Exodus 17:1-7. Continuously, Israel has been rebellious. Forgetting the goodness of the Lord, they complained heavily and provoked the Lord to anger. They quarrelled (Meribah) and tested (Massah) the Lord (Psalms 95:8). Do we, like them, claim to be God’s people but fail to hear His voice and obey Him? Terrible consequence: God declared, “They shall never enter my rest” (Psalms 95:10-11).
What Next:
What lessons does Exodus 17:1-7 teach us about taking God’s love and patience for granted? A heart filled with gratitude and obedience touches the heart of God. He deserves all the glory for His mercies toward us.
Adoration:
You alone are God. There is none beside you. You deserve the glory, and honour, and praise and adoration, now and forever and ever.

Prayer for the Week:
* Pray for the sick, especially in the household of God, that God will heal them miraculously.
** Pray for God to deliver His children from strange sicknesses and terminal diseases
*** Pray also for us believers, to imbibe healthy life styles, so that we don’t allow the devil take undue advantage of us.
**** Pray that God will deliver His children from every form of ignorance.
