Scripture Union Daily Guide 31 December 2025 Outline
David begins this Psalm with an expression of a steadfast heart filled with praises and worship to the Lord (Psalms 108:1-5). Why did he praise and worship God (Psalms 108:4)?
Knowing that the love of our heavenly Father transcends all boundaries, and His faithfulness knows no limits should be of great encouragement to us. In life, we often find ourselves in need of help. Looking back at the year that is about to end, we can recall several times that we needed help: times when challenges, uncertainties, and burdens weighed heavily on our hearts. In his time of need, David expresses his reliance on God’s help and categorically states that the help of man is worthless (Psalms 108:12).
We can learn to do the same. As we look forward to a new year, we can trust that in His unfailing love and faithfulness, God will help us.
So, when faced with challenges that look insurmountable and unyielding (Psalms 108:10), call on God for help (Psalms 108:6), do so with faith and confidence that He will give you victory (Psalms 108:13), and avoid the temptation of putting your confidence in man (Psalms 108:12).
And So
Always remember that “The arm of flesh will fail you…” (George Duffield Jr. 1858).
