21 When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed, the heaven was opened. 22 And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”

Q.2 – Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
Scripture Union Daily Guide – 3 January 2026 | OUTLINE
The baptism of Jesus marked the beginning of His earthly messianic assignment. He started by identifying with the people and submitted Himself under John to be baptized. However, He did this with an attitude of prayer. And heaven was opened (v.21). What personal lessons can you learn from the example of Jesus if you also must secure an open heaven on your life and work?
One of the features of open heaven for Jesus was the descent of the Holy Spirit upon Him (v.12). Can you identify other features? Jesus did not go about introducing Himself as the Son of God. He waited for God to introduce Him to the world. How can you apply this to your personal life?
The genealogy of Jesus is a testimony to the fact of Jesus’ humanity. He also had human ancestry. The Son of God is also the son of man. He was subjected to the same feelings and limitations as we are, yet without sin (Hebrews 4:15). This qualified Him to take our place in the punishment for sin (Galatians 1:3-4).
PRAYER: Make Exodus 33:18 your personal prayer today.
