Welcome to Scripture Union Daily Guide 2nd December 2022 , Friday Message. As you study today’s devotional, remember this; “Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 (NLT)

      TOPIC: Reformation and Revival

OPENING PRAYER; As I read through this passage dear Lord, let your word bring transformation to my life.

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY: 2 Chronicles 29:1‐19

      Question(s) for Reflection
      • Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?

Scripture Union Daily Guide 2nd December 2022 MESSAGE

After the 16 years of King Ahaz’s ungodly reign that led Judah to sink so low, we now shift our focus to the reign of new the King, Hezekiah. How did a godless Ahaz manage to produce such a godly son? It may be the godly training he received from his mother (v.1). But more importantly is the intervention of God in the life of His people. Hezekiah began with some great reforms.

Compare what he did in his first years in office (vs.2‐3) with what his father did in 28:2‐3. What lessons do you learn here? King Hezekiah restored worship in the Lord’s Temple by first removing the pagan elements his father had installed. He called a general meeting of the Priests and the Levites to sanctify themselves and review the impact of the damage caused by idol worship in the kingdom (vs.5‐9). Our leadership always has an impact on the people we lead.

God has placed you in your position to inspire godly character. Consider what the priests did in vs.15‐17 in order to reorganise the Temple for worship. What good example can churches learn from them today?

      Practice/Word Application
So what: What things are likened to idols in our places of worship today? What steps are you going to take to remove them?
      • Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

      CLOSING PRAYER
      • Help me, Lord Jesus, to be an instrument of revival and reformation.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with Deuteronomy 11:12
