Scripture Union Daily Guide 29 June 2025 (Sunday) Devotional Message
Today’s Daily Guide 29th June 2025 Reading By Scripture Union
TOPIC: God’s Persistent Love
Opening Prayer: May my heart, O Lord, be receptive to your word as I meditate on it.
Scripture Reading: Hosea 3:1-5
1 And the Lord said to me, “Go again, love a woman who is loved by another man and is an adulteress, even as the Lord loves the children of Israel, though they turn to other gods and love cakes of raisins.” 2 So I bought her for fifteen shekels of silver and a homer and a lethech[a] of barley. 3 And I said to her, “You must dwell as mine for many days. You shall not play the whore, or belong to another man; so will I also be to you.” 4 For the children of Israel shall dwell many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or pillar, without ephod or household gods. 5 Afterward the children of Israel shall return and seek the Lord their God, and David their king, and they shall come in fear to the Lord and to his goodness in the latter days.
Question(s) For Meditation:
► Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
► Q2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
► Q4: Is there any promise for me to believe or hope for?
Scripture Union Daily Guide 29th June 2025 Outline
It is difficult to imagine a situation like this where the husband knows that his wife is promiscuous, but he still goes all out in search of her. On top of that, notice the price he had to pay to buy her back (Hosea 3:2) and his appeal to her, probably with tears (Hosea 3:3). Hosea’s action is beyond human capability. If such happens in a marriage, only by divine grace can any man take the same action.
Yet, this is the reality of God’s relationship with the Israelites and with us as well. They consistently left the one who loved them, delivered them from slavery, and gave them a sure inheritance to go after other gods. By his action, Hosea experiences God’s pain as He constantly delivers us from the idols to which we sell ourselves. The Lord God has purchased and redeemed us from the slavery of sin, not with ‘shekels of silver and homer of barley’, but with the precious blood of His son (1 Peter 1:18-19; 1 Corinthians 6:20). We are His bride, but how often do we go after other gods.
And So:
List some of the current day gods after which we prostitute. Then, ask the Lord to forgive you for following any of them (name them) and rededicate your life to Him.
Love lifted me
1. I was sinking deep in sin,
Far from the peaceful shore,
Very deeply stained within,
Sinking to rise no more,
But the Master of the sea,
Heard my despairing cry,
From the waters lifted me,
Now safe am I.
Refrain: Love lifted me! Love lifted me!
When nothing else could help
Love lifted me!
Love lifted me! Love lifted me!
When nothing else could help
Love lifted me!
2. All my heart to Him I give,
Ever to Him I’ll cling
In His blessèd presence live,
Ever His praises sing,
Love so mighty and so true,
Merits my soul’s best songs,
Faithful, loving service too,
To Him belongs.
3. Souls in danger look above,
Jesus completely saves,
He will lift you by His love,
Out of the angry waves.
He’s the Master of the sea,
Billows His will obey,
He your Savior wants to be,
Be saved today.
