Scripture Union Daily Guide – 29 December 2025 | OUTLINE
This is a psalm of confession. Despite God’s faithfulness to Israel, she was unfaithful and rebellious. This passage traces some of the rebellious acts of Israel while in the wilderness. The psalmist began with a call to praise God for his unfathomable goodness and everlasting love (Psalms 106:1-2). He was sure that God would bless those who remain faithful in the midst of prevailing decadence (Psalms 106:3). Those were the ones he described as people of God (Psalms 106:4). So, he prayed that God would remember and bless him along with them (Psalms 106:4-5).
Observe the confession of the palmist in Psalms 106:6. He and the Israelites of his time had sinned just like their forefathers. Are we any different? Go through the passage again carefully and take note of their sin of ingratitude (Psalms 106:7), miracle-seeking attitude (Psalms 106:12), forgetfulness and impatience (Psalms 106:13), uncontrolled desires (Psalms 106:14), envy (Psalms 106:16) and idolatry (Psalms 106:19). How do these compare to what we do in this generation?
If we are experiencing God’s miracle, it is simply because of His mercies and the glory of His name (Psalms 106:8) and not because we are any better. What can we learn from Moses in Psalms 106:23?
And So
Despite the prevailing decadence, you can be different. Decide to remain faithful to God and do the right always.
