Today’s Daily Guide 28th June 2025 Reading By Scripture Union
TOPIC: Love That Will Not Let Me Go
OPENING PRAYER: Grant me depth of insight, revelation and knowledge as I meditate on this passage, O Lord.
SCRIPTURE READING – Hosea 2:14-23
14 “Therefore, behold, I will allure her,
and bring her into the wilderness,
and speak tenderly to her.
15 And there I will give her her vineyards
and make the Valley of Achor[a] a door of hope.
And there she shall answer as in the days of her youth,
as at the time when she came out of the land of Egypt.
16 “And in that day, declares the Lord, you will call me ‘My Husband,’ and no longer will you call me ‘My Baal.’ 17 For I will remove the names of the Baals from her mouth, and they shall be remembered by name no more. 18 And I will make for them a covenant on that day with the beasts of the field, the birds of the heavens, and the creeping things of the ground. And I will abolish[b] the bow, the sword, and war from the land, and I will make you lie down in safety. 19 And I will betroth you to me forever. I will betroth you to me in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love and in mercy. 20 I will betroth you to me in faithfulness. And you shall know the Lord.
21 “And in that day I will answer, declares the Lord,
I will answer the heavens,
and they shall answer the earth,
22 and the earth shall answer the grain, the wine, and the oil,
and they shall answer Jezreel,[c]
23 and I will sow her for myself in the land.
And I will have mercy on No Mercy,[d]
and I will say to Not My People,[e] ‘You are my people’;
and he shall say, ‘You are my God.’”
QUESTIONS FOR MEDITATION:
► Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
► Q2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
► Q7: What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?
Scripture Union Daily Guide 28 June 2025 – OUTLINE
This is a message of God’s unconditional love to His people, but they did not reciprocate. God’s love is patient and long suffering. They had a choice to respond or not. Our God is jealous over His people and His investment in their life. God reminded them of their entry into the Promised Land. We forget so easily, yet the one who brought us out of slavery does not forget. God will always try to draw us back when we stray from His ways.
Having suffered for a while, Israel will listen to God again. He will lovingly entice them. Achor is where Achan’s sin was discovered (Joshua 7:26), a place of sin and judgment. But they received a promise that it will be turned into hope and restoration. God prepares for a restoration of His relationship with His people (Hosea 2:16-23). He restores them with the plan that they will return to Him, serve Him, and desist from their prostitution. The relationship becomes a blessing not just to the Jews but to the entire creation both in the present and in the millennial to come. The relationship would not be lost again as God’s people remain with their saviour (Revelation 21:3).
