Scripture Union Daily Guide 28 December 2025 Outline
David started this Psalms with a directive to his soul (Psalms 103:1-2). It is a good practice to speak to our souls sometimes, like David, and to make deliberate decisions to offer qualitative praise from the depth of our hearts, and not to forget the goodness of the Lord, because we do forget. David reminds us that despite the difficulties and challenges that we may be going through, there are many things (benefits) that money cannot buy for which we need to be thankful to God.
Read Psalms 103:3-5 again and reflect on the benefits for which we need to be thankful to God – Forgiveness of sins (Psalms 103:3a, cf. Psalms 103:10-12, and 1 Timothy 1:13-16), healing (Psalms 103:3b), redemption from destruction (Psalms 103:4a), love and compassion (Psalms 103:4b, cf. Psalms 103:8-9,13-18; Matthew 11:28) and satisfying us with good things (Psalms 103:5).
Take note that when we pray, God sometimes heals us physically and at another time, He may decide otherwise. But one day we will all receive a body that is free from sickness (1 Corinthians 15:53-55). How comforting it is to know that God is a compassionate Father (Psalms 103:13).

FOR ALL THE BLESSINGS OF THE YEAR
1. For all the blessings of the year,
For all the friends we hold so dear,
For peace on earth, both far and near,
We thank Thee, Lord.
2. For life and health, those common things,
Which every day and hour brings,
For home, where our affection clings,
We thank Thee, Lord.
3. For love of Thine, which never tires,
Which all our better thought inspires,
And warms our lives with heavenly fires,
We thank Thee, Lord.
