SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY: Leviticus 13:29-59

* Q5: Is there any warning for me to heed?
Our reading yesterday was centred on communicable diseases that break out on the skin of an individual among the Israelite community. Today’s passage deals with such breakouts in other parts of the body and on clothing. We must note that God is not only concerned for the individual, but He is also careful to give instructions on how to take care of issues that may indirectly affect the community.
Observe how any abnormal skin breakout is given prompt attention (vs.29-30; 38). It may appear minor but if prompt attention is not given, it may quickly lead to death. Likewise, we must pay close attention to our spiritual life. No sin is harmless. We must never toy with sin.
The state of the clothes we wear is also important as we try to avoid sickness. That is probably the reason God ensures that the Israelites do not get contaminated through the things that they put on. Certain diseases on clothes make them unclean. Such clothes were to be destroyed probably so that the individual does to get contaminated. What does this say about God’s concern for the total man?

Action point: List some of the things that could contaminate both our spiritual and physical lives? How are we to deal with such things in our lives?

CLOSING PRAYER
Lord, please deliver me from anything that will contaminate my spirit, soul, or body.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Genesis 1:28
“And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”

PRAY FOR:
● Anointing and wisdom for our leaders.
● God’s guidance in decision-making and planning.
PRAY AGAINST:
● Confusion and misunderstanding within leadership.
● Anything that may lead us away from God’s intended path.
