TOPIC: The Great Passover –The Transition
Opening Prayer: Dear Lord, expose me to your truth as I read your word in Jesus name.

• Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow? • Is there any warning for me to heed?
Notice the layout of a great truth in vs.17-19. The Passover commemorates the transition from Egypt to Canaan; from the life in the flesh to life in the Spirit; from death and pain to life and celebration. Look very closely at the phrase, “my time is near” (v.18). This statement marks the end of the first Passover and its rituals and ushers in the great eternal Passover – Transition from the temporal and transient to the eternal and permanent life.
Are you already a part of this great Passover? Note the obedience of the disciples who arranged the Passover (v.19) and the treachery of Judas (vs.21-23). Even though Jesus here provided a wonderful opportunity for Judas Iscariot to have a change of heart, his mind was made up and there was no turning back for him. God will always give the sinner an opportunity to repent, but the decision is ultimately ours (2 Peter 3:9).
By inaugurating the Lord’s super, the new covenant of forgiveness and salvation is established (vs.26-28). Jesus was symbolically offering Himself as the Passover Lamb (1 Cor. 5: 7b). Have you come under the protection of His shed blood?
