SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY: Matthew 12:22-37
QUESTION FOR REFLECTION
► Q5: Is there any warning for me to heed?
Scripture Union Daily Guide 25th February 2025 OUTLINE:
We are living in the last days where false or satanic miracles abound. But we must not close our eyes to godly miracles. In Matthew 12:22, a deaf and dumb person was healed by Jesus.
Read Matthew 12:23,24 and consider the two opposing views concerning the healing or miracle expressed by the crowd and the Pharisees. They both observed the same event but came to completely opposite conclusions often based on their innate attitude to Jesus and His ministry.
In our contemporary time, how can a believer differentiate God’s miracles from Satan’s lies? Read Romans 8:14, Psalms 119:105. When we remain firmly rooted in the word of God and are led by the Spirit of God, we will be able to differentiate between the original and false miracles. What do you learn from Jesus’ statements concerning the religious leaders’ opposition and rejection in Matthew 12:25-30?
To see clear evidence of the work of the Spirit’s power and link it with the devil is to sin against the Holy Spirit. Likewise, continual, and deliberate rejection of the Holy Spirit’s witness in one’s heart may cause one to lose the capacity to repent. See Ephesians 4:30, Hebrews 3:8-13 and Romans 1:28.
Notice the warning in Matthew 12:36-37? Our words expose the state of our hearts. The lips only utter what the mind conceives. How many idle, foolish, and unprofitable words have you spoken?
* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Closing Prayer: Lord, please guard my lips and help me never to blaspheme against you.
