• What is God revealing to me in this passage?
Scripture Union Daily Guide 24th January 2021 Message:
Your Pastor’s salary: God made generous provisions for the care of the Priests and Levites (today’s Pastors, Missionaries and Christian workers), so that they could live a good life without worrying about daily necessities, (vs.1, 3-5). However, they were not to compete with the other people when it comes to worldly goods, (v.2). Occult practices: God warns the people not to follow the practices of the nations around them (v.9).
Combining our faith with pagan practices is not permissible. Vs.10-11 give the practices that God’s people were not to get involved in. Thankfully, such horrible practices as sacrificing children to pagan idols have been eradicated among us. Sadly, even regular members of our churches are not always exempted from some of these practices.
Prophets and prophecy today: No gift of the Holy Spirit in the Bible has been abolished by God. Do people sometimes prophesy in your church? How do they compare with the standards in these verses? Who holds them to account? Notice how you can know the prophecies that are from God (vv.21 – 22; 1 John 4: 1 – 3).

Closing Prayer
• Turn Psalm 119:18 to prayer • Pray that the lesson of the cross which is sacrificial giving of self, will help you to offer sacrificial service.
