Scripture Union Daily Guide – 24 September 2025 | OUTLINE
Amidst his pain and suffering, ridicule and mockery, and false accusations of wrongdoings, Job desired to have an audience with God, so he could state his case before Him (Job 23:2-4). He was certain that he was innocent and convinced that if God heard his case, God would vindicate him, and his troubles would end (Job 23:5-7). Thus, he looked for God everywhere but could not find God (Job 23:8-9).
God seemed to Job to be silent and inaccessible. Are there times that we also go through life experiences and God seems to be absent and inaccessible? How does it feel? What encouragement is there for us in Job 23:10-12,13-17 that can help us at such moments? Someone had said “because there is silence does not mean there is inactivity in heaven.” Going through a difficult time is like walking in the dark (Job 23:17), but we can be encouraged that though we may not see God, He sees us and watches over us in our dark moments (Job 23:10).
He is walking alongside us. He has promised never to leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5; Isaiah 43:1-2). We should, like Job, hold on to our integrity (Job 27:5) and never allow our problems to take us away from Christ (Job 23:12) or to query His sovereignty (Job 23:13-14).
