• What does the passage teach about God the Father, God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
Scripture Union Daily Guide 23rd January 2021 Message:
There are important statements about the administration of justice in our reading today demonstrating the fact that our God is a God of justice. (a) Investigation (v.4) “Everyone is innocent until proved guilty.”
Do you find this to be true in your country? Do the authorities not usually prejudge the cases of their opponents? Does the court of public opinion not usually prejudge a government official accused of fraud just because others in such positions are usually guilty? (b) Witnesses (vs.6-7) Have you ever experienced the harm that false witnesses can cause to innocent people? That is why more than one witness provides a little more safeguard, at least. (c) Appeals (vs.8-9) Even the best judge can sometimes get it wrong.
Appeals can sometimes make things right. Dedicated servants of God were the ones involved in Israel (v.9). Sadly, our trained lawyers often focus more on legal technicalities than on the truth. (d) Respecting the verdict (vs.10-12) Among us, those in authority sometimes ignore court judgments that are not in their favour. In Israel, this was not allowed to happen, An absolute “No, no!”

Closing Prayer
• Pray today for those involved in the administration of justice in your country, especially the Christians among them. • Pray to God for wisdom to do your work with diligence and integrity.
Prayer for the week
Pray for the children, youth and reawaking of the burden to teach, train and redirect them. Pray against increase in fraudulent practices and generational gap. Remember the less privileged and orphans that God will raise more Daniels among them. Pray for Methodist Church.
