BIBLE READING
Judges 15:1-20
QUESTION FOR MEDITATION
► Q2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
How unfathomable the way of a man with his wife (Judges 15:1-2)! Like Samson’s father in-law, who would ever think that upon the betrayal in Judges 14:15-18, Samson would still desire this selfish woman that he had married? We must learn to always tow the path of reconciliation between a man and his wife and never be party to marital separation (Matthew 19:3-6).
The resentful Samson has found a reasonable ground to avenge himself on his Philistine enemies (Judges 15:4-5)! See the jungle justice and serial reprisals in Judges 15:6-15. Our communities, and in fact the whole world, is bleeding today because of few selfish individuals and groups who ride on the wings of ethnic, religious and sectional affiliations to avenge themselves on their opponents. As Christians, we must be different; heeding the teachings of Jesus and His apostles to champion the cause of peace in our communities and nations (Matthew 5:9; Romans 12:17-21).
What do you think of Samson’s remark in Judges 15:16 (cf. Judges 15:14-15)? Samson’s passion pushed him to disobedience and ungodly steps but amidst these, God fulfilled His own purpose against the idolatrous Philistines.
And So
Do not take the glory of any victory that God is winning for you.
