Topic: Plundering Those Who Plunder Us!

Opening Prayer: Lord, let the light of your word shine into my life as I meditate on your word.

Scripture: Ezekiel 39:1‐16

Question(s) for Reflection
• What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?

Scripture Union Daily Guide 22 January 2022 Outline

This chapter concludes the prophecy against Gog and Magog whose destruction will demonstrate God’s favour for Israel. From the first verse, God speaks for Israel, ‘I am against you and will turn you back’. We see a repetition of God’s action revealed in chapter 38 on behalf of Israel.

Ezekiel reveals how the enemy soldiers would be disarmed and disabled. There would be no escape route, bodies of the soldiers would be prey for the birds. The fire of destruction would fall on Magog (v.6). The intention was to let the people of Israel and the other nations know that ‘God is the Lord’. What will be the effect of this on God’s own people (v.7)? They will know more of His power and goodness, His care for and faithfulness to them. This is of immense importance to us. How far do you believe God can act on your behalf?

Do you trust God enough to fight your battles for you or you would rather fight them yourself? It is important to trust in the Lord and wait on Him to act for you (Isaiah 40:31).

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
• Gracious God and Father, I adore you and praise your name for being the mighty God we can trust to fight our battles.

Prayer for the week
• Pray for Strength to carry on the faith despite life challenges. Ask for the grace of God upon our lives especially in this end time. Pray for spiritual strength to tarry and pray about all things.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with Matthew 6:11
