In Palestine, a man organising a feast sends out invitations in advance with the date clearly stated. When the day comes and all things are ready, servants are sent out to summon the guests.
To accept the invitation beforehand and then refuse to attend it when the day came was a grave insult. Assess the excuses the invited guests made for failing to come to the feast (vs.18‐20). Were this your wedding or graduation party, how would you feel ‐ Sabotage! They have ganged up to disgrace me!
The banquet of God’s kingdom cost Jesus His life. It is also free. None of the guests had to pay anything to enjoy the banquet. Salvation is freely given. There is no precondition. And the Lord’s banquet brings eternal life and enjoyment in His kingdom. The Jews had the first opportunity to accept the invitation but rejected it.
Paul’s message was usually presented first to the Jews in their synagogues. Whenever they rejected him, he went to the public halls and proclaimed it to the Gentiles who were considered the blind, lame and rejects of society.
Many today are still treating God’s invitation to eternal life with utter contempt. Is God sending you to any of such people in your family, office, or neighbourhood?

So: Plan to tell that person about the Lord’s banquet today.

THANK GOD FOR:
› The free gift of eternal Life we received when we gave our lives to Christ.
› The Love of God that has kept and is still keeping us in the faith.
PRAY FOR:
› The presence and glory of God to continue with, and in us all the days of our lives.
› The proper use of our rights as children of God as we go on to draw more souls from the kingdom of darkness.
› The grace of God to help us to continue to live in the Spirit, so we will not fulfill the desires of the flesh.
PRAY AGAINST:
∷ Going back to our vomits i.e. old habits and the old lifestyle we dropped.
∷ Failing to reach out to our children, family, neighbors and church members so they can equally enjoy this great gift of salvation.
