Topic: Don’t Lose it. Get it Right!
Opening Prayer: Oh Lord, grant me spiritual insight into the truth of your word as I study it.
Scripture: Proverbs 20:1 – 15
Question(s) for Reflection
• Is there any warning for me to heed? • What is God revealing to me in this passage?
What home truths are there for you to take to heart in vs.1-3? Strong drink only leads to drunkenness and discord. The sensible person respects the laws of the land. If one can incur the wrath of man for flouting earthly laws, how much more if we disobey God (Hebrews 10:31). Do not be easily angered. A wise person exercises self-control. We reap what we sow (v.4; Gal. 6: 7 – 8).
What, according to vs.5 and 6, are two hallmarks of wisdom? Prudence (carefulness) and faithfulness should mark our lives. A godly parent leaves a godly heritage (v.7). Wise leaders do not compromise with evil. Neither should we (v.8). Sadly, in some countries, it is sometimes those who do the right things the right way who fall victim to perverted justice. Thankfully, Jesus’ righteousness can uphold us and our offspring (v.7).
Be alert to the dangers of sin and flee from them (v.9). Remember that God detests cheating. Nothing is hidden from Him. Be careful to what you expose your eyes and ears. What goes into us through them affects our lives profoundly.

Closing Prayer
• Lord Jesus, I need your grace in my life today and always so I shall have continuous awareness of your presence and do that which pleases you. • Thank God in anticipation of the dawn of a productive and happy week.
Prayer for the week
Pray for the backslidden brethren that they will take heed to God’s warnings and return to Him. Pray against the spirit of discontentment and ingratitude. Pray for Emmanuel Pentecostal Mission.
