Paul began to explain from yesterday’s passage why his planned visit to the brethren in Rome was delayed for so long. What evidence of a caring heart do we see in this passage? Paul expressed hope and plans for sweet fellowship with the Roman Church. He does not consider himself the only one with knowledge and understanding. He hoped that his visit would be a mutual encouragement and blessing to each other.
Christians in Macedonia and Achaia had delight in contributing to meet the needs of some saints in Jerusalem who were undergoing hardship. With this, Paul teaches the vital lesson of our responsibility to provide physical, financial, and spiritual benefits to those who are primarily committed to our spiritual nurture (vs.25-28). We can assist these Christian workers at home and in the office, give them some gifts. Even if we cannot do any of these, we can pray for them regularly (vs.30-32).
Like Paul, they are risking their lives to propagate the gospel message. They face serious challenges from unbelievers. They too, and again like Paul here (vs.21-25), must regularly share their itinerary and ministry news to direct the prayers of their supporters.

Father, I receive grace to love and care for the brethren and for lost souls.
Prayer for the week
► Pray for our Christian brethren in the Northern part of Nigeria who are undergoing persecution.
► Pray for strength and grace to continue in their faith despite the denials of basic amenities.
► Pray against incessant attacks and deliberate plans to Islamize them.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Genesis 22:17
