Topic: Give Praise To The Promise Keeping God
Opening Prayer: As I read your word O Lord, grant me an insight and grace to do your will in Jesus name.
Scripture: Psalm 146:1-10
Question(s) for Reflection
• What is God revealing to me in this passage?
This is the first of the five Hallelujah Psalms that conclude the book of Psalms. It is a song of praise to the Lord after the Israelites had returned from exile. We must learn to always give God quality praise. Human praises are displacing God’s praises in our generation. Read v.2 and 1 Chronicles 29:12-14 and note the reasons we should ascribe praise to God. He is the creator and owner of all lives. Christians are recreated in Christ Jesus. Riches and honour come from Him. He is the ruler of the universe and His hands control power and might.
Everything we have comes from Him. God inhabits the praises of His people. Songs and praises can move God into action and supernatural intervention (Act 16:25-27). The Psalmist urges us to trust only in the Lord stressing the futility of trusting in human beings. Why does he say this (vs.3-4)? Those who put their trust in the Lord are blessed. Why (vs.6,7)? Are you one of them? Mention other things the Lord does in v.9. This same God is also our God. Those who know Him and live to please Him have reasons to rejoice because He reigns forever (v.10).
