QUESTION FOR REFLECTION
► Q2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
Scripture Union Daily Guide 17th January 2025 – OUTLINE
We saw the importance of the job assigned to the Kohathites yesterday. In today’s passage, the other two arms of the Levites received their own instructions: the same kind of job but dealing with other items of the Tent of Meeting. We should remember that every part of the tent is holy whether the curtains, the frames or covering. Each is to be handled with caution.
Note in Numbers 4:32 that burdens must be assigned to each man by name. This underscores another important reason for taking census. With census of the people, appropriate duties can be assigned to members. Without census, many able-bodied Levites could be easily missed out and a few people overburdened. Upon the arrival of a church pastor, he distributed a form to gather statistics of church attendants, whether registered members or not. They indicated their profession, their experience, preferred church ministry, and a few other important data.
The information gathered was employed to engage people in various aspects of the church ministry. Many people in our churches are talented in many areas; but because they are not identified and given individual assignments in those areas, they remain dormant and unprofitable in the church. This in turn affects their spiritual growth.
Stand up and be counted as you showcase your talent.
