TOPIC: Demand for Signs; Evidence of Unbelief
Opening Prayer: Help me dear Lord to meet with you as I meditate on your word in Jesus name

Jesus marvelled at the Pharisees’ clamour for signs. Signs are not for entertainment but to change our ways of thinking. Prophet Isaiah had prophesied that, “you shall have a sign, a virgin shall bring forth a child.” The sign was fulfilled but they missed it. Unlike the Queen of the South and the men of Nineveh who acted on the signs of their time, the Pharisees missed the greatest sign of all, the death and resurrection of Jesus – the sign of Jonah (v.39b).
We need to ask God to open our eyes and minds so that we do not miss what He is doing in our time. In vs.43-45, Jesus throws light on the importance of being filled with the Spirit and John 6:63 tells us that the Spirit is the Word. Any ‘Wordless’ Christian is a potential prey for Satan. Make sure you fill your heart with the Word and totally filled and controlled by the Holy Spirit. Jesus redefined the larger family unit (vs.46-50).
See Mark 3:21 and John 7:5 for what Jesus’ immediate family initially thought about him. If their intention here was to take him away, that would explain Jesus’ reaction. Thank God, they later came to the knowledge of the truth and became true brothers of Jesus (Acts 15:13, Jude 1).

• Lord, we desire that your word will dwell in our hearts richly. • Pray to God for wisdom to do your work with diligence and integrity.
Prayer for the week
Pray for brethren in businesses, pray that sincerity, integrity and holiness will be their watch- word. Pray that whatever they lay their hands on in righteousness will prosper. Pray that they will have the favor of God and man and the wisdom to invest properly. Pray for Foundation of Life Ministry.
