      << PREVIOUS SU DAILY GUIDE

      Topic: Be Hospitable! Believe!!

Opening Prayer: Dear Lord, make me more like you through the power of your word as I meditate on it.

Scripture Union Daily Guide 15 May 2022 Scripture: Genesis 18:1‐15

      Question(s) for Reflection
      • Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
      • What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?

Scripture Union Daily Guide 15 May 2022 MESSAGE

Abraham entertained God and two angels unknowingly (vs.1–2). Reflect on his attitude towards the men, his motivation, and the involvement of his household in entertaining them (vs.3–8). What do you learn from this? Africans are normally very welcoming people. However, some have had bad experiences of welcoming men of evil characters into their home.

Whatever may speak to us to the contrary, God’s charge in Hebrews 13:1‐2 must be kept while praying for discernment. God is very mindful of His promises (v.10a; cf. 17:19. See also Numbers 23:19). Was Sarah’s laughter at God’s promise (v.12) an expression of joy or doubt? Although it was an inward thought, God, who knows our innermost thoughts, heard and took notice of it.

God can do anything no matter how much it seems impossible to us (v.14). Are you in a situation you think God cannot handle? Read Jeremiah 32:27; Mark 10:27 and think again. We should always acknowledge and confess our sins because they are not hidden from God (v.15; cf. Psalm 139:1–4).

      Practice/Word Application
And so? What is your attitude towards strangers?

      • Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

      Closing Prayer
      • Lord, may my human reasoning not hinder the fulfilment of your eternal plans for my life.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with Ezekiel 34:25 ‐ 27

      PRAYER FOCUS

      LOVED BY GOD
The mountains may shift, and the hills may be shaken, but my faithful love won’t shift from you… Isaiah 54:10

      THANK GOD FOR:
› His incredible and life changing love, His mercy and compassion for us.
› Being our personal God, a loving Father and a Friend who is ever close to us.

      PRAY FOR:
› Grace to reach out and extend God’s love to the poor, homeless, orphans and less privileged ones in church today.
› SU fellowship as she reaches out to the brethren in need and defend the cause of the orphans among them.
› Increase generosity among SU members especially in these hard times.

      PRAY AGAINST:
∷ Thinking only of our needs instead of reaching out to others from all that God has blessed us with.
∷ Feeling insecure due to the happenings around, forgetting we are the apple of God’s eye.
