TOPIC: Prayer and Fellowship: The Bond of Brotherhood
OPENING PRAYER: Sanctify my life dear Lord as I study your word in Jesus name.
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Colossians 4:2-18

MESSAGE: As we come to the end of the book, Paul gives final admonition to his readers. The various forms of relationships that have grown among the people are reflected here. Compare vs.7-11 with Acts 19:29; 12:12; 20:4; Philemon 10. Even as brethren, it is okay to disagree sometimes but more importantly to sort out our differences and still be able to continue the relationship. Paul and Mark parted ways earlier (Acts 15:37-39) but now Paul highly recommends him (compare 2 Timothy 4:11).
Notice Paul’s advice to Archippus in v.17. It is important not just to finish the race but to do so faithfully both as a believer and a worker in God’s service. Demas (v.14) failed that test unfortunately (2 Timothy 4:10), a warning to us.
All Paul’s counsel in this letter may not yield the desired result if we do not obey the charge to pray, be watchful and thankful. Paul clearly stresses this in vs.3-5. How often do we pray for our missionaries on the field and church leaders? Prayer is the glue that binds all the desires, instructions, and relationships together. Learn from the way Epaphras exemplifies this in vs.12-13.

►The confidence of the citizenry in our judicial system will be restored, and there will be equity in our land.
