Scripture Union Daily Guide 13 September 2025 Outline
We can experience difficulties and afflictions that are overwhelming and could make us feel as if God had abandoned us. Instead of despair, what should we do at such moments (Psalms 102:1-2)?
Sometimes it might even be hard to find the right words to express our feelings. What assurance do we have in Romans 8:26 for such moments? However, this Psalms has words that we can take back to God (Hosea 14:2).
Read Psalms 102:3-11 again. Does any of these verses speak specifically to your situation? These verses vividly describe the desperation and distress of the Psalmist and mirror the reality of our human experiences.
Notice how the Psalmist freely poured out his heart to God. When lack, sickness, loneliness, rejection, persecution, war, displacement, loss of employment or loved ones, and other unpleasant experiences make us feel like the Psalmist, let’s remember that God still reigns in His sovereignty (Psalms 102:12). We can call out to Him for help, pour out our hearts to Him without pretence or reservation, and trustfully hope in His intervention (Psalms 102:13; Psalms 50:15).
