Scripture Union Daily Guide 13 September 2021 Monday Message
As we read this second part of the chapter, we see the wisdom that Agur clearly exhibits. He challenges us to learn lessons from the created world around us. From things like the grave that is never satisfied (vs.15-16), we learn that greed never gives satisfaction. The more you have the more you desire. The Yorubas say that the rich man never says he has had enough.
Only Christ gives true satisfaction. What can you learn from the four things mentioned in vs.25-28? It is not by might or by power but by God’s Spirit. However, we need to put our little strength to God’s service and into our business endeavors. Then God will multiply it to achieve the impossible. Note the things that amaze Agur about the four things he mentions in vs.18-19. The eagle leaves no trace of its flight path in the sky, nor the ship on the sea nor the snake on the rock (unlike the snail).
Similarly, a preacher may engage in adultery and mount the pulpit soon after to preach a ‘great’ sermon pretending as if nothing has happened (v.20). Our sin may not be open to men, but we cannot hide them from God. See Proverbs 28:13.
Practice/Word Application

• Pray for revival of Christians to personal witnessing and that the witness of the Church worldwide will never be muffled; pray for Church budgets to reflect Kingdom priorities.
