Topic: Bridging The Gap Between Sinful Humans And The Holy God

Opening Prayer: Dear Lord, grant me understanding and illumination as I ponder on your word in Jesus name.

Scripture: Ezekiel 42:1‐20

Question(s) for Reflection
• What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?

Scripture Union Daily Guide 13 February 2022 MESSAGE

The priests were very privileged people. They store holy food in a holy place and wear holy clothes before eating in holy dining rooms, (vs.13‐14). For the period of their active duties, they were physically and visibly separated from the people. See how this is further emphasized in v.14.

What is the reason for all this? Their role was to be the middle‐men, standing in the gap between sinful human beings and the holy God. This physical and visible separation helps the people to appreciate the distance between them and God. Even these priests could not enter into the Most Holy Place, which only the High Priest could do, and only once a year.

Notice what he needed to bring with him on that occasion, (Hebrews 9:6‐7)? We are even more privileged people. We can go straight to the Most Holy Place directly, not once a year but any time of day or night! It is Jesus Christ whose blood opens the way for us as our High Priest, (Hebrews 9:11‐14), and He makes us priests of the New Covenant.

Practice/Word Application
So what? What responsibilities do we now have as “royal priests” today (1 Peter 2:9)?

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
• Take my life and let it be consecrated Lord to thee. Take my moments and my days, let them flow in ceaseless praise.
